Overview
This case series, labeled A through D, UVA-PHA-0018, UVA-PHA-0019, UVA-PHA-0020, and UVA-PHA-0023, allows the reader to see three vignettes as handled by two different instructors. Rick Hartman, a doctoral student taking a course in pedagogy, is teaching a continuing education course in general management for members of the community with some of his classmates. Halfway through the course, as class is about to begin, he is confronted with a registered student who is coming for the first time and is complaining about not receiving some materials that were handed out in class the previous week.
