The B case in this series (see also the A [UVA-OB-0591] and C [UVA-OB-0593] cases) describes the changes that Bob Bellhouse, general manager of the public telephone business of New York Telephone, made in response to a series of difficult problems he faced: increasing competition, poor morale, significant financial losses, severe vandalism, and a traditional mind-set. Results are not shown so that students may discuss whether they think these changes will make a difference (i.e., work). This case series is an adaptation of a previous case (UVA-BP-0340). A CD-ROM with clips describing several aspects of the department accompanies the series (UVA-OB-0591M).
